Each year seven and a half million people come to London first to change planes. And not without reason.
History and geography have combined to make London one of the most important junctions in the world's air transport network.
There are more fights to more destinations from London's five airports than from any other city on the globe- on avarage 219,300 departures to 2310 places per week.
Heathrow, by far the biggest of the five, is Europe's number one airport. With a total of 26 million passangers per year (the figure for London as a whole is 37 million), it is the world's busiest outside the United States. For internetional passengers it is the busiest in the world.
The volume of trade has a further advantage for passengers. The range of fare prices available in London is very competitive.
With a wider choice at lower prices, London is the supermarket of international air travel.
